What is Botox and how does it work?
Botox (botulinum toxin) is a chemical that blocks muscle contraction, leading to muscle relaxation. Botox reduces frown lines and wrinkles by preventing muscle contraction.

Botox is injected into muscles and is used to reduce frown lines and wrinkles by preventing muscle contraction (movement).
Who can have Botox?
There is no age limit for Botox injections. Most people can have Botox injections and will see benefits. Decrease in fine lines and wrinkles, as well as prevention of wrinkles in younger patients.
Who should not or cannot have Botox?
Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have neuromuscular diseases should not have Botox.
Patients with skin infections should not have Botox.
Patients with prior allergic reactions to Botox should not have injections.
Patients on blood thinners or those who have bleeding disorders may have excessive bruising and bleeding.
Are Botox injections invasive? Are they painful?
The overall procedure is minimally invasive, and has minimal downtime. Some patients experience mild pain and bruising from the procedure.
Does the procedure take a long time?
The entire procedure takes approximately 15-30 minutes.

How quickly will I see Botox results? How often are Botox injections needed?
Full Botox results are seen 2 weeks following procedure. A touch up visit may be beneficial 2 weeks after initial procedure.
Results typically last 3-4 months, and at that time injections may be repeated

The best time to do Botox injections is approximately 3-4 weeks prior to any important events.
